Not enough staff to run the camp to 5 star standard
This is an absolutely beautiful and incredible site - BUT - it is massively let down by being understaffed. We were here for 3 nights and on the first day we decided to go to the pool bar for lunch, checked the app for opening times, got there and it was closed all day due to staffing. By this time there was no where else to eat so we had to go without food until dinner. Went to the dessert bar that evening and there was one person taking orders and making the crepes as well, this took ages to be served. Pool bar the next day was a similar issue, ordering took ages because there was one girl taking orders and making the food. On our last night the lady sat next to us smashed her glass on the floor. Her husband went to ask someone to clear it up and he was sent back with a dustpan and brush! On a 5 star site! My husband then spent 15 minutes clearing the glass with him as we have small children in sandals and didn?t want them cutting their feet. My husband ended up with glass in his finger. Went to the snack bar on our last day to get lunch, this is open between 12-2pm. We arrived at 1:12 to be told by the lady at the back of the queue that she has been told she is the last person to be served as they have too many orders. We complained to reception and after speaking to the kitchen twice she confirmed that they would make our order and we were told ‘they are working late for you’. We collected our food order at 2:03. I’m not sure we should have been made to feel like an inconvenience for wanting to order food during the 2 hours that the snack bar is open. The wait times for food at the snack bar were really long. We had just come from another campsite where the snack bar made the most incredible food at record pace, so it was disappointing to then come somewhere where you could wait an hour for snack bar food. It was frustrating to see so many staff on the entertainments team, but not the same level of staffing for the service roles. It’s such a shame because it’s such an amazing campsite which could be considered perfect if the staffing numbers were increased. I would go back for the facilities, but be prepared for issues related to low staff levels.
